COURSE
DESCRIPTION
This course is an intensive exploration of the World of Entertainment. It deals with the Laws and Contracts regarding Productions, Agents, Managers, Unions, Actors, Directors, Designers, Portfolios, Auditions, Royalties, Copyrights and Property ownership.
GOALS
This is a required course for the MA degree program in Theater Arts. The student perform detailed studies regarding entertainment laws, contracts, Royalties and Property Ownership. They study the relationships between performers and agents, unions, managers; between Directors, writers and Producers; between Musicians, Designers and the Production organization.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon course completion, students will be able to:

Define various Entertainment Laws and Contracts.

Identify the various unions and their relations to specific Performing Arts.

Understand the Laws controlling Copyrights and Contracts.

Understand the professional environment as it relates to managers, Agents, casting Director, Royalties, Portfolios and pay-scales.
COURSE PREREQUISITE: A bachelor's degree is the minimum requirement for admission to this course of study.
COURSE DELIVERY: This course shall be delivered completely through online interaction via the Internet or other acceptable distance learning medium(s). Due to this being a non-traditional program, traditional classroom residency is not required. Therefore, you are expected to independently read and analyze the subject matter with me performing the roles of an advisor and mentor.
