COURSE
DESCRIPTION
This course explores, in-depth, the creative processes of stagecraft and scenic design. It shows the grand world of the Performing Arts with the preparation of sketches, drawings and story-boards, relative to principal styles and periods.
GOALS
This is a required course for the MA degree program in Theater Arts. The students explore stage and scenic structure to include colors, materials and styles. They learn to define and blend costume, make-up, lightning and sound to solidify the characters.
LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon course completion, students will be able to:

Analyze a Play or Movie script and decide the stage design needed.

Decide on light, sound, props and colors to effect stage reality.

Show the value of stage design to the performing arts.

Prepare story-board, sketches and sound effects to show the flow of movement and color, as the Play/Movie unfolds.
COURSE PREREQUISITE: A bachelor's degree is the minimum requirement for admission to this course of study.
COURSE DELIVERY: This course shall be delivered completely through online interaction via the Internet or other acceptable distance learning medium(s). Due to this being a non-traditional program, traditional classroom residency is not required. Therefore, you are expected to independently read and analyze the subject matter with me performing the roles of an advisor and mentor.
