COURSE
DESCRIPTION
This course is an exploration of the dominant modes of Acting that have flourished in the Theater from 1800’s to the present. It explores character development as it relates to the parts of acting and life.
GOALS
This is a required course for the BA degree program in Theater Arts. The students analyze scripts and study acting techniques as they relate to concentration, memory of emotion, dramatic action, characterization, observation, rhythm.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon course completion, students will be able to:
Explore the mystery of the theater as it relates to Acting.
Analyze the ‘dream of perfection and the dream of the eternal’.
Use direction and scenery to develop roles.
Interpret scripts to gain proper understanding of the period, behavior, location and social issues.
COURSE PREREQUISITE: A bachelor's degree is the minimum requirement for admission to this course of study.
COURSE DELIVERY: This course shall be delivered completely through online interaction via the Internet or other acceptable distance learning medium(s). Due to this being a non-traditional program, traditional classroom residency is not required. Therefore, you are expected to independently read and analyze the subject matter with me performing the roles of an advisor and mentor.
