COURSE DESCRIPTION
The student will read materials from a variety of Humanistic counselors and theorists. Special attention will be given to the underlying belief system of Humanistic counseling, Counselor characteristics and therapeutic processes and techniques.
COURSE GOALS
· The student will develop an understanding of Humanistic theory
· The student will learn Humanistic counseling techniques
· The student will develop an understanding and skills related to the Humanistic view of the client
COURSE EXPECTATIONS AND EVALUATION
The student will write a 5-7 page review/summary/ evaluation of each of the five books read.
PROJECT
The student will write a 15-20 paper, a critical comparison of Humanistic counseling techniques to Cognitive and Neo-Psychoanalytic approaches.
COURSE PREREQUISITE: A bachelor's degree is the minimum requirement for admission to this course of study.
COURSE DELIVERY: This course shall be delivered completely through online interaction via the Internet or other acceptable distance learning medium(s). Due to this being a non-traditional program, traditional classroom residency is not required. Therefore, you are expected to independently read and analyze the subject matter with me performing the roles of an advisor and mentor.
