COURSE DESCRIPTION
PSY 501 provides an analysis of the biological, cultural, social, and emotional aspects of development from conception through old age. Emphasis will be placed on the processes underlying the acquisition and development of skills and behavior throughout the life-long developmental period. At the conclusion of PSY 501 the student will have developed knowledge of Human Lifespan Development.
COURSE GOALS
· The student will understand biological development from conception through old age
· The student will understand parenting and the likely results of various techniques and situations
· The student will understand and appreciate the issues and research in the field of Human Development
· The student will incorporate information leading to a more meaningful lifespan
COURSE EXPECTATIONS AND EVALUATION
Read each chapter and write a brief outline summary of each.
PROJECT
Write a paper, 18 -20 pages, presenting a comprehensive overview of the latest information and research on adult development - from the beginnings of adulthood to old age and death.
COURSE PREREQUISITE: A bachelor's degree is the minimum requirement for admission to this course of study.
COURSE DELIVERY: This course shall be delivered completely through online interaction via the Internet or other acceptable distance learning medium(s). Due to this being a non-traditional program, traditional classroom residency is not required. Therefore, you are expected to independently read and analyze the subject matter with me performing the roles of an advisor and mentor.
