PSY 452 Psychology of Women 3 Credit Hours

COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Psychology of Women includes a critical examination of information affecting the changes in the roles of women during the latter half of the 20th century and into the 21st. Topics will include:

· Female-Male Comparisons and Differences

· Growing up Female

· Confidence, Assertiveness, and Entitlement

· Communication

· Family and Intimate Relationships

· Work and Women

· Physical Health and Illness

· Mental Health and Illness

· Aging Truths and Myths

· Sexuality

· Violence Against Women

· Leadership

COURSE REQUIREMENTS
The student will choose five (5) current books (not necessarily text books) on the roles/behaviors of women from the 1980s up to and including today and write a brief critical summary of each. The student will pick one significant aspect of the psychology of women, pre approved by the advisor, and write a 10-15 page paper providing information, interpretations and recommendations.

Find authors with varying backgrounds and points of view.

All papers and summaries must be typed. Include leadership, sex roles, violence and abuse, marriage, career barriers, stereotypes, and a comparison of the personalities of men and women.

COURSE PREREQUISITE: A bachelor's degree is the minimum requirement for admission to this course of study. 

COURSE DELIVERY: This course shall be delivered completely through online interaction via the Internet or other acceptable distance learning medium(s). Due to this being a non-traditional program, traditional classroom residency is not required. Therefore, you are expected to independently read and analyze the subject matter with me performing the roles of an advisor and mentor.
