COURSE DESCRIPTION
PSY 410 will survey current and historical learning theories and
the experimental work associated with each approach. Students will
also evaluate learning theories and study practical implications
and methodology.
COURSE GOALS
· The student will develop an understanding of basic learning
theories
· The student will develop skills in
analyzing and testing learning practices
· The student will develop an
understanding of human cognitive processes
· The student will develop an
understanding of the practical application of learning theory
COURSE EXPECTATIONS AND
EVALUATION
Read each chapter and write a 1-2 page summary of each to be
submitted to the university. – 20%
PROJECT
Write a comprehensive paper on TWO of these learning approaches:
Include: history, explanation of theory, significant contributors,
strengths and weaknesses, research, applications, and your
professional assessment. 10-15 typed pages each. – 40%

FINAL EXAM
There will be one written exam, provided by the Instructor when
all written coursework has been completed. It will be an open-book
exam consisting of multiple-choice, short answer, and essay length
questions. The student will have one week after receiving the exam
to complete the exam and return it to the Instructor. –
40%
COURSE PREREQUISITE: A bachelor's degree is the minimum requirement for admission to this course of study.
COURSE DELIVERY: This course shall be delivered completely through online interaction via the Internet or other acceptable distance learning
medium(s). Due to this being a non-traditional program, traditional classroom residency is not required. Therefore, you are expected to independently read and analyze the subject matter with me performing the roles of an advisor and mentor.
